Welcome to
Nest Behavioral Health

We are Doctorate and Masters-level clinical experts in the treatment of trauma, but you are the expert in you.

The individuals, couples and families who come to us for help each face different internal and external problems in their lives, but they share a common underlying challenge: their nervous systems have been shaped by life events in a way that causes them to respond ineffectively to certain situations at work, at school, or at home. As a result, they cannot trust their thoughts and their emotions to be reliable guideposts for how to meet each moment with acceptance, wisdom, and effective action.

Our first priority is to understand your current difficulties and your hopes for how we might be able to help. We combine our scientific knowledge with an open-hearted curiosity and respect for every human being, collaborating with you to identify attainable goals and outline a sensible approach for your treatment.

Healing on purpose

By teaching you to heal your nervous system, we offer a path to restoring - or in some cases establishing for the first time - the trust in yourself that is essential to living a purposeful life.

Our Values Are Our Practice

Before founding Nest Behavioral Health, Maria Kratsios spent over 10 years developing her vision for an innovative therapeutic practice grounded in scientifically-proven methods, that is also flexible enough to apply approaches to healing beyond the limits of what we know from science so far. Fundamental to this vision is our belief in three core values.

  • Our commitment to your healing guides us throughout every step in the therapeutic process, from our assessment, to your therapy, to your eventual transition out of therapy. We pay attention, and we adjust our approach to meet your changing needs as you move through the stages of healing and growth. We partner with you every step of the way, so that in time you become the agent of your own change.

  • We care. This is easy to promise but harder to reliably provide. Our reputation for compassion in our therapeutic relationships is the result of having cultivated a culture of mutual support, respect and professional development within our organization. Just as we care for each other, we strive for everyone who comes to Nest Behavioral Health to feel they are cared for by us.

  • Purposeful change requires accountability to protect our best intentions from being hijacked by our egos and our unconscious insecurities. We practice deliberate accountability to our patients, our referents, and our clinical collaborators for the effectiveness of your treatment. And we ask our patients to hold themselves accountable for collaborating with us to create positive outcomes. Together we are accountable for your healing.

With Nest Behavioral Health, there’s no fumbling around in the jewelry box without knowing what they’re looking for. They know EXACTLY what they’re doing with each interaction. And their collaboration and leadership on clinical teams makes all the difference for those complex cases.

Natasha Silver Bell, Founder & CEO, SilverBell Coaching

I refer clients to Nest Behavioral Health without hesitation. They’re committed and fully engaged in the clinical work they provide. They go all the way with clients. They have an excellent team of well trained clinicians and a rare kind of commitment and dedication that not all therapists have. I have a feeling of great safety and trust in them and in their ethics.

How We Heal

When you come to us for help, we begin by sharing with you what we have learned about the various ways that our nervous systems hold trauma. For most of our patients, this knowledge alone starts to lift the burdens of blame and shame, increases a sense of agency, and offers renewed hope for healing. We then collaborate with you to read the signals that your body is sending of what you need in order to feel safe within yourself, and we support you in introducing new habits that intervene directly on the feelings of unsafety and disconnection that trauma causes.

Meet our Founder

The “bends in the river” of Maria’s life include a successful career in investment banking, a period of full-time parenthood, and a mid-life pivot to clinical social work. For her, creating Nest Behavioral Health was an act of love.

It all boils down to trust. Trust is the last valuable commodity in the world. It’s the only thing we have left. I trust Maria. I follow up with the people I’ve sent, and they’re getting better.
