Zia Ahearn
Psychotherapist

Zia Ahearn brings to her practice a grounded, person-centered approach shaped by over [ten] years of clinical work across diverse settings and a deep belief in the transformative power of therapeutic connection. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, she supports individuals navigating developmental trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, grief, and PTSD—meeting each person where they are and creating space for healing that feels both empowering and deeply personal. Her work is rooted in the understanding that healing is not linear, and that lasting change happens when patients feel truly seen, supported, and equipped with tools that honor their unique strengths and stories.

Zia has worked across diverse clinical settings including the VA, psychiatric facilities, and outpatient programs specializing in substance use, honing her expertise in attending to clinically complex psychological presentations that call for close collaboration with a team of treatment providers. She has also developed programming beyond traditional clinical models—most notably creating a skills-based, attachment-focused Women in Recovery group curriculum that fosters nonjudgmental community and mutual support for women in early substance use recovery.

Clinically, Zia integrates Mindfulness, DBT, CBT, and EMDR within a trauma-informed, strengths-based lens. She works collaboratively with clients across the full spectrum of life stages to strengthen coping skills, build emotional resilience, and reconnect with a sense of purpose and joy. Her approach is warm, attuned, and adaptive—shaped by the belief that therapy should feel like a partnership, not a prescription. She is especially drawn to working with individuals seeking to break cycles of shame, rebuild trust in themselves, and move through difficult transitions with greater clarity and self-compassion.

Outside of her practice, Zia finds restoration in time with her family, quilting, gardening, and quiet walks in nature—rituals that remind her of the importance of presence, creativity, and renewal. These values infuse her work and inform the mindful, compassionate care she offers to every patient.
